Charles Alan Tanner was born October 1, 1937 in Bakersfield and passed away Saturday, August 14, 2004. Alan was preceded in death by his father, Charles and mother, Edna. He is survived by his wife, Yvonne; daughters, Deby and her husband, Apple Flores of Reedley, CA, Kim Little of Bakersfield, CA; and son, Eddie and his wife, Kim of Bentonville, AR; six grandchildren, Aron, Tori, Eddie, Timothy, Johnathon and Megan. Alan graduated from East Bakersfield High School in 1955. He attended Bakersfield College for two years. He also graduated from the Pacific Coast School of Banking in Seattle, Washington. Alan and Yvonne (Shearer) were married in June 1958. Soon after he was drafted into the Army and was stationed in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Returning to Bakersfield after service in the Army, Alan worked as a truck driver before joining Crocker Bank in May 1963. The next 23 years, Alan was employed by Crocker Bank beginning as a trainee at the East Bakersfield Branch. He worked in Oildale, Taft, Visalia, Fresno, Modesto, Reedley and ending up back in Bakersfield as an Assistant Vice President. He started a second career in Real Estate, eventually opening Tanner Realty. During his career Alan was active in many local organizations: Kiwanis, American Bankers Association, Credit Managers, Rotary Club and Slav Hall of Delano. He and Yvonne enjoyed traveling in their RV. The thing Alan enjoyed the most was vacationing with his family & friends.
