Viola Darrow McCarty
Aug. 18, 1916 - Mar. 12, 2005

Graveside services for Viola Darrow McCarty will be held at Greenlawn 
Cemetery, 3700 River Blvd., on Friday, March 18, 2005, at 11:00 a.m. Heather 
Gaines will be officiating. Pallbearers will be Jack D. Bellows, Josh Coleman, 
Andy Gaines, Bob Boyce, Bobby Boyce and Mark Gollehon. 

Viola was preceded in death by two husbands, Brooks Hayden Darrow and Donald 
McCarty; son, Brooks Bennett Darrow and one granddaughter, Jeanne Diane 
Coleman. She is survived by daughter, Barbara Bellows of Nipomo, CA; daughter-
in-law, Marilyn Darrow of Willits, CA; four grandchildren; ten great-
grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces 
and nephews.

Viola passed away to be with her Heavenly Father on March 12, 2005. Viola 
entered this life on August 18, 1916 in Corbin, Kentucky. Viola graduated from 
Kern County Union High School in 1935. She attended the original Bakersfield 
College on the Kern High School campus and worked for many years as a 
Manicurist. She enjoyed golf, gardening and spending time with her family. She 
will be missed for her undying sweetness and her soft touch. In lieu of 
flowers, donations in memory of Viola can be made to Optimal Hospice Care 661-
