John N. Crump Sept. 17, 1935 - Feb. 17, 2006 John Crump was born in Gilmore, Arkansas to Everett Crump and Dora Duncan. He served his country overseas in the U.S. Army. John came to California in 1958 and worked for various farmers until 1981 when he started to farm on his own. John continued to be a successful farmer to his last day. He was a board member of the South Valley Gin and a director at Ranchers Cotton Oil Co. John truly loved his family and friends and all the time he could spend with them. He loved going to events of his kids and grandkids, especially time spent at the Kern County Fair and the 4-H events. John was happy to contribute to the Kern County Fair and any 4-H function. In addition John so enjoyed being a weekend cowboy and helping Lester Baroncini, along with the Bias family work cattle whenever he could. He also enjoyed gambling, hunting and fishing and especially loved family get-togethers. John is survived by his wife of 40 years, Bobbie; children, Kay and husband, Curt Behling, John Crump, Jr., Estelle Freeman, Martha Durham, Joseph Crump and adopted son, Patrick; grandkids, Zach, Ally, Ryan, Michel, Christopher and Bailey. Graveside services will be held at Greenlawn Cemetery, Southwest on Wednesday, February 22, 2006, at 11:00 a.m. Pallbearers will be Lester Baroncini, Robert Bias, Steve Bias, Patrick Bell, Tyler Helton, John Thompson, Joseph Crump, Jeff Gianelli, John Crump, Jr., Joe Freeman and Curt Behling. Honorary Pallbearers will be Christopher Crump, Zack Watson, Allie Watson, Ryan Durham, Michel Durham and Bailey Freeman. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made in Johns memory to the California 4-H Association, 1031 S. Mt. Vernon Ave., Bakersfield, CA 93307 or your local FFA.
