Alan Burkley 
Nov. 5, 1969 - May 23, 2005 

Alan Burkley was born November 5, 1969, to Noel Burkley and Lynn (Burkley) 
Hawkins in Bakersfield, CA. He passed away on May 23, 2005, in Elkhart, 
Indiana. Alan was raised in Bakersfield and attended local schools. After high 
school graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He served in the first Gulf 
War aboard the frigate USS Gary (FFG51) as an Electronics Technician 2nd Class 
in the Persian Gulf. In 2002 he moved to Elkhart to reunite with his daughter, 
Stasi. Alan is survived by his mother and stepfather, Lynn and Michael Hawkins 
of Bakersfield; daughter, Stasi DelaPena Burkley of Elkhart, Indiana; 
stepdaughter, Erika Krause of Salem, Oregon; special friend, Angela McCain of 
Elkhart, Indiana; grandmothers, Violet Stewart and Frances Reed of 
Bakersfield; and many relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his 
father. A military memorial service was held in Elkhart, Indiana, on May 31st, 
and a private family memorial will be held in Bakersfield, at a later date. 
May the Lord watch between me and thee, While we are absent, one from the 
other. Amen
