The Resources available using the FamilySearch Web Pages, have over the last few years, multiplied and become a bit more complicated to use.

The two functions that can cause the most frustration are the Historical Images and the newer 'Full Text - Search'.

Because the Films in the Historical Images section are not indexed and loaded into the main FS Search Engine, one  cannot find a particular person and his/her records. To find anyone in the millions of films in this section becomes a challenge at best. But the searches are not impossible to do, they just require time and imagination to complete.
The search is the digital function of looking at films on the old microfilm readers at the FHL.
The trick is finding the right film. That is where this tutorial takes shape.
To access the films, one has to have an account and a pc at home. Searching with a mobile or tablet would cause no end of madness. You need a decent size screen to view microfilm.

Notice on the right, there are 56,880 Films available. There are 98 Counties represented.
if you scroll to where it says 'Life Event All' and click on it, you will see the types of information and #'s of films.

Using the drop down menu to select a type of record will be a good place to begin. If you want a specific area, use the Geographic locations above.

Full-Text Search
FamilySearch Function which will search multiple filmed images on their servers.
People ~ Places ~ Events: Almost any topic imagined!
The results can be saved as images or pdf files. The Citation can be included.
When the results come up, there is a OCR generated panel of text which can be copied to a file or your Gen Software.

One of the nice parts of this function is the ability to locate newspaper articles that are elusive at best.
