Merced County, California Japanese American Internment Camp Merced Co, CAGenWeb              When I became the County Coordinater for Merced County I decided to research as well as visit the county. I learned a lot and met some great people.  Upon discovering that a Japanese American Assembly Center, during WWII, was located for a short time in Merced it seemed important to add the information to the Merced County site. Starting with Executive Order 9066. There are numerous sites that tell the story and they are listed below:  US History Densho Asian-nation Donald Woodworth and I visited the Merced Assembly Center Memorial and took pictures of the Memorial as shown on this page. The Assembly Center Memorial is well worth visiting!
